Attorney Tony Buzbee, who is representing several alleged victims in cases against Sean “Diddy” Combs, is now involved in his own lawsuit.

An unnamed male celebrity accused Buzbee and his firm on Monday, November 18, of “shamelessly attempting to extort exorbitant sums from him or else publicly file wildly false horrific allegations against him,” according to court documents obtained by CNN.

The plaintiff filed the complaint with the Los Angeles Superior Court under a “John Doe” pseudonym. Doe alleged in the filing that Buzbee’s firm is attempting to capitalize on the “explosive allegations against Sean Combs” by pulling in public figures who have been acquainted with Diddy, 55, in the past.

Diddy has been making headlines since November 2023, when his ex-girlfriend Cassie claimed he sexually assaulted her during their relationship. Although Diddy denied the allegations he settled out of court with Cassie, 28, that same month.

In September, Diddy was arrested for racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion and transportation to engage in prostitution. Alleged victims have since begun filing lawsuits against Diddy, accusing him of past sexual assault, drugging, and threats of violence. (Diddy has maintained his innocence as he awaits a criminal trial in May 2025 and has denied all civil allegations against him.)

Buzbee, for his part, previously claimed that he will be representing at least 120 of Diddy’s alleged victims. Over the past month, Buzbee has filed more than a dozen lawsuits against the rapper.

According to Doe, Buzbee allegedly sent him a demand letter earlier this month to bolster his cases against Diddy. Doe claimed in his filing that Buzbee’s firm “threatened to unleash entirely fabricated and salacious allegations of sexual assault” that include “multiple instances of rape of a minor, both male and female” if their client “refuses to comply with their demands.”

Doe’s attorneys claimed that Buzbee characterized the famous client as “having been friends with Mr. Combs based on the fact that the two often attended similar events frequented by celebrities.”

Doe’s legal team continued, “These baseless accusations are nothing more than a weapon in a calculated plot to destroy Plaintiff’s high-profile reputation for profit, despite the complete absence of any factual basis for such claims,” the lawsuit claimed.

Buzbee responded to the lawsuit in a statement via Instagram on Monday, alleging that Doe’s filing is a “last-ditch attempt to stop me from revealing names in public lawsuits.” He noted that the tactic “won’t work” and vowed to keep fighting.

“We won’t allow the powerful and their high-dollar lawyers to intimidate or silence sexual assault survivors. It has been reported that a lawsuit has been filed against my firm claiming extortion,” Buzbee said in his statement. “The lawyers that filed it also immediately called TMZ in an apparent effort to silence those who allege sexual assault.”

The attorney claimed, “The case filed against my firm is not only without legal merit, it is laughable.”

“Here is why: On behalf of two clients who allege sexual assault, we sent a standard demand letter to a New York lawyer that we know represents an alleged perpetrator and potential defendant. The letters were sent seeking a confidential mediation in lieu of filing a lawsuit,” Buzbee continued. “No amount of money was included in the demand letters. No threats were made. The demand letters sent are no different than the ones routinely sent by lawyers across the country in all types of cases.”

Buzbee called Doe’s lawsuit “frivolous” and insisted it is an “aggressive attempt to intimidate or silence me and ultimately my clients.” He concluded: “Sunlight is the best disinfectant. I have confidence that with full public disclosure all of this will sort itself out.”

Diddy’s counsel Erica Wolff also commented on Doe’s claims telling Us Weekly in a statement on Tuesday, November 19, “The extortion lawsuit against Mr. Buzbee exposes his barrage of lawsuits against Mr. Combs for what they are: shameless publicity stunts, designed to extract payments from celebrities who fear having lies spread about them, just as lies have been spread about Mr. Combs.”

The statement continued: “As his legal team has said before, Mr. Combs has full confidence in the facts and the integrity of the judicial process.  In court, the truth will prevail: that Mr. Combs never sexually assaulted or trafficked anyone — man or woman, adult or minor.”
